Hey guys, 

This week’s Thought comes from 2 Timothy 4:5b. There, Paul says, “Work at telling others the good news and fully carry out the ministry that he has given you.”

The phrases work at and fully carry out bring forth the image of high effort and follow through. It's the idea of using the gifts that God has given us, using the opportunities that He's given us, to share the Good News. It's not a reactive type of mindset, it's proactive. You're on offense instead of the defense. On busy days when you're bogged down, work at it, because opportunities will come. On days when you have too many opportunities, you still need to work at it. Divine appointments are fantastic, but if you're not ready for those appointments when they arise, then maybe you miss that chance that God has given to you. 

Just two verses before, Paul says, “always be prepared, whether in season or out of season, to share the Good News.” That takes effort. So, stay ready, work at telling others the Good News and fully carry out the ministry that He has given to you. 

Many think, “Well, I'm not so sure He's given me a ministry.” He has. He's given all of us a ministry. Our sphere of influence, our relationships, the people we encounter daily, our platform (no matter how big or small), that is where God has strategically placed you, and those are the people He has placed in front of you. 

“Fully carry out”… no half measures. Let God lead, but work hard to stay right behind Him in step, so that you're ready for every one of those opportunities He puts in your path.
