Hey guys,This week’s Thought comes from I Peter 1:13. There, Peter says, “So, prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.” 

Peter encourages us to be prepared and self-controlled. That is sound advice, both for the people he was writing this letter to in the early church, but also for us today. How many times daily do we need to exercise self control? How many times do we need to be prepared to pivot because life throws a curveball — some tragedy or circumstance falls upon us that we didn't see coming? 

Peter also encourages us to be self-controlled, wise advice for then and for now! I think we can all be better in this category! However, it was the second sentence that really jumped out at me. “Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.” 

Put ALL your hope…last week I recorded a podcast with some friends of mine that are financial planners. As we talked, they expressed the importance of diversification when it comes to investing. You don't put all your eggs in one basket! That’s a poor move in their industry because everything is variable. Here, Peter says the exact opposite. “Put ALL your hope in the gracious salvation that Jesus provides.” 

Put ALL your hope, all your focus, all your resources, etc. in Him, because Jesus is worth it! He doesn’t change like shifting shadows (James 1:17). You don't need to plan ahead. You don't need to try to hedge your bets. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that comes from Jesus! 

Maybe you've been holding back, maybe you've been hedging your bets, maybe it's time that you put all your hope in Jesus Christ?
