Hey guys, 

This week’s Thought comes from Psalm 65. I have to tell you up front, this is the longest passage I've ever chosen for one of these devotionals, but as I was reading, I just couldn't find a good place to stop! 

David says in Psalm 65:5-8, “You are the hope of everyone on Earth, even those who sail on distant seas. You form the mountains by Your power and armed yourself with mighty strength. You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves and silenced the shouting of the nations. Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your wonders. From where the sun sets to where it rises, you inspire shouts of joy.” 

If you know anything about our ministry, when I started reading about the people “at the ends the Earth”, it immediately grabbed my attention. I had already highlighted this passage in my Bible, but as I read it again,it was like I was reading it for the first time! God's word is like that.It's living and active, and it will speak into the moment that you are walking through, if you are looking for it. 

Several things came to mind as I read. “The hope of everyone on Earth, even those at the ends of the earth...” That is the God I serve. “You formed the mountains with your power and you armed yourself with mighty strength. You quieted the raging oceans and the pounding waves…” That is the God I serve!  However, it also says, “You silenced the shouting of the nations.” How accurate and appropriate is that at this moment in time?! 

So, what we see here is not just God over nature. He's not just “Creator God”, He controls what happens with the nations. Maybe you need to hear that today? Maybe you're walking through a tough time? Maybe you're walking through a difficult moment, and you just need to know that something bigger, more powerful and mightier than you is in control of the situation? Let me promise, that is the case! The one who spoke the mountains into existence, the one who quieted the raging seas with His voice, the one who controls the nations and the people at the ends of the earth stand in awe of… That is the God we serve!
